SawYun POS ("SawYun POS", "we", "us") is a point-of-sale application for retail businesses, available on the web, Windows/Linux/Mac desktop, and Android ("the App"). This policy explains what data the App collects, how it's used, and who it's shared with. It applies to the mobile app (package com.sawyuntech.pos) as well as the other SawYun POS clients.
01Two kinds of data
Because SawYun POS is business software, it handles two distinct kinds of data, and it's important to be clear about which is which:
- Your account data — the information you or your staff provide to create and use your business account on SawYun POS.
- Your business's data — the products, sales, inventory, and your own customers' records that you or your staff enter into the App while running your business. This data belongs to you; SawYun POS stores and processes it on your behalf so the App can function, and does not use it for any purpose of its own.
02What we collect
Account data (you and your staff):
- Name, email address, and password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text)
- Phone number, for staff accounts that log in with a business code + phone instead of email
- Role (owner, manager, cashier, inventory staff) and an optional profile photo
- Login timestamps, for security and session management
Business data you enter (about your own customers, not you):
- Customer name, phone number, and optionally email, date of birth, gender, and address, if you choose to record them
- Customer purchase history and account-credit ledger, if you use the on-account/credit sales feature
- Product photos, your receipt logo, and payment-proof screenshots you upload
Device permissions (mobile app):
- Camera — to scan product barcodes/QR codes, and optionally to take a product photo. We don't access the camera for any other purpose.
- Bluetooth — to discover and connect to receipt printers and barcode scanners on your local network. This is not used to track your location; on Android versions where Bluetooth scanning requires a location permission to be declared, we mark that permission as not used for location.
- Photo gallery — only when you choose to pick an existing image (product photo, receipt logo, payment proof); the App never reads your gallery in the background.
03What we don't collect
- No advertising or analytics SDKs (no Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Facebook SDK, etc.)
- No crash-reporting SDKs that transmit device data off your device
- No location tracking
- No payment card numbers — SawYun POS records sales and account-credit balances, it does not process card payments itself
- We do not sell your data, or your customers' data, to anyone
04How data is stored and secured
- All traffic between the App and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Passwords are stored as salted hashes, never in plain text
- Uploaded images (product photos, receipt logos, payment proofs) are stored on our servers and are only accessible to your business's own account
- Each business's data is isolated from other businesses using SawYun POS
05Data deletion & your rights
You can request deletion of your account and business data, or ask what data we hold about you, by emailing privacy@sawyuntech.com"> privacy@sawyuntech.com . If you're a customer of a business that uses SawYun POS and want your data removed from their records, please contact that business directly — they control that data, not SawYun POS.
06Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date above. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the updated policy.
